Welcome to the official web site for the City of Plymouth Festival.

The Festival has three main events in 2012 

 

These are open to all age groups. 

The City of Plymouth Dance Festival has classes in ballet, character, national, tap, modern, Greek, song and dance, improvisation and Scottish for solos, duets, trios and groups.    

The City of Plymouth Music Festival has classical, popular, folk and jazz music in the following groups: school, youth and adult choirs, junior and adult vocal, instrumental and school instrumental, piano and composition.    

The City of Plymouth Speech & Drama Festival has poetry, prose, bible reading, television news reading, sight reading, acting, mime, duologues, choral speaking, group mime, public speaking, composition and improvisation.    

The City of Plymouth Festival was founded in 1914 and is affiliated to BIFF - The British & International Federation of Festivals (whose logo appears above, at top right). The adjudicators are highly experienced specialists and offer friendly and constructive advice.

City of Plymouth Festival syllabus and entry details are sent to teachers and interested individuals in March (for Dance) and April/May (for Music, Speech & Drama).

The relevant syllabus can be found on the General Information, Dance, Music and Speech & Drama pages. Entry Forms can be downloaded from the Forms page. These items are also available from the General Secretary (details below).

Programmes (currently £2 each) are printed 2-3 weeks before the festival. The morning, afternoon and evening sessions are open to the public. There is a £2 entry charge per session. Day Tickets are available at £5 and Season Tickets for the whole festival at £20.  Half-price concessions are available for children and OAPs.

Alternatively, Membership to the City of Plymouth Festival, entailing an annual subscription of £20 or more, entitles the donor to free admission to all competition rooms and the right to vote at our AGM.
